Checklist For Choosing A Plastic Surgeon

Choosing to have plastic surgery is a gigantic decision and one that is usually made with a lot of excitement and happiness, since these are optional procedures for the most fragment. After you have decided to have yourself surgically enhanced, you will need to find a plastic surgeon. There are many to choose from and this is not something that you should just open the phone book and point a finger for. This person will be changing your appearance and you want to have the best outcome possible. Therefore, there are many things that you should consider as you develop your decision. The following is a checklist of questions that you should talk about with the surgeons you are considering.

*Where does the surgeon get surgeries? Some surgeons have their own surgical center that they work in, while others will use the local hospital.

*How is your privacy kept? Are there private entries and exits that you will be using? Will your photos be obsolete on the website or to show other potential patients?

*What are the financing options? Do they accept cash only, or are there payment plans? Do they work with companies that specialize in medical credit?

*Does the surgeon have references? If you would like to talk with former patients about their experiences, some surgeons have a list ready of people who have agreed to be contacted. There may also be letters of reference from former patients that the surgeon can provide.

*Does the surgeon have photos? A picture does indeed paint a thousand words when it comes to plastic surgery. Ask to see some of the surgeon’s before and after photos of their work.

*What are the fees for the surgeon? A good plastic surgeon should be able to give you a fairly specific price, or at least a puny range that the cost can fall into.

topple other fees are going to be charged? Some plastic surgeons will give you an all-inclusive price while others are quoting you only their personal fees. There may be others, including hospital fees, anesthesiologist fees, and other fees. Make sure that you understand everything that you will need to pay.

*Do you feel comfortable with the surgeon? A good relationship with your plastic surgeon is very important. You will need to be very open about what you are looking for and what he or she will be able to provide you with.

*What are the surgeon’s credentials? Education certificates and memberships with cosmetic surgery organizations will probably be displayed in the office, so you can look for these things.

*Can you come to a “meeting of the minds” with the surgeon? When you explain what you want, be sure that the surgeon is repeating it back to you in the same manner that you are envisioning it. Some surgeons, for example, will not agree to doing certain things that others will. When I went in for breast implants, not every surgeon would place the size that I wanted, but others would.

*How great aftercare will you receive? When the surgery is complete, how many appointments will you be getting for follow-up? Will the surgeon still be accessible if you have questions during your recovery?
